From May 31 – June 3, Applied Training Solutions, LLC (ATS) supported the VIGILANT GUARD 25-5 Homeland Defense – Mission Assurance exercise located at Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center and Grayling Army Airfield, Michigan.
ATS simulated the tactical and media environments using two platforms:
1. ATSsim Training to replicate military asset movements and operational effects.
2. ATSsim Media to emulate news and social media environments, enabling Public Affairs and intelligence testing.
The purpose of this exercise was to evaluate the Michigan National Guard’s ability to conduct a rapid Large-Scale Mobilization Operation (LSMO) under a Dual-Status Commander, validating deployment and all-hazards response plans in a semi-contested setting.
Participants:
• Michigan National Guard (MING)
• Michigan Emergency Management Agency (MEMA)
• U.S. Northern Command
• U.S. Army North
Technology used:
• ATSsim Training: A cloud-based simulation platform for realistic disaster response training.
• ATSsim Media: A secure media emulation tool to simulate crisis communication and validate public affairs readiness.
The exercise successfully tested and validated MING’s operational readiness. ATS enabled realistic interactions through a Simulation Cell and provided a near real-time common operational picture to support decision-making. The event demonstrated the critical value of coordinated military and civil response capabilities.
“The Vigilant Guard 25-5 Exercise improved the Michigan National Guard’s ability to partner with and support civil authorities in response to State emergencies. The participants learned valuable lessons about the enormous effort it takes to be an effective force when the people of the great State of Michigan need it most.” – Michael H Alma, MAJ, EN, Michigan Army National Guard
ATS continues to lead in emergency preparedness training, offering innovative, experience-based solutions for local, state, and federal agencies.
