During September, Applied Training Solutions, LLC supported US Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz in Germany with a comprehensive readiness exercise.
The exercise aimed to test the installation’s ability to respond to external threats, particularly drone-based attacks, and assess its capability to maintain Mission Assurance while protecting personnel and infrastructure. ATS provided critical services in exercise design, simulation modeling, scenario planning, social media production, and White Cell support, ensuring the successful execution of the event.
The scenario involved coordinated drone attacks, as well as cyber-attacks and insider threats at Rhine Ordnance Barracks. The multi-faceted simulated attacks happened during inclement weather, adding another layer of response and coordination for the teams involved.
Throughout the exercise, the technology and simulation services provided by ATS enabled USAG Rheinland-Pfalz to fully activate its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and employ counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) measures. First responders engaged in real-time scenarios, including fire suppression, securing affected areas, and neutralizing explosives, while the EOC coordinated damage assessments and countermeasures. Cybersecurity incidents were also addressed, with personnel mitigating network intrusions.
ATS utilized tools like Microsoft Office 365 and Google Earth to develop and distribute injects, simulate network attacks, and generate realistic visuals for training purposes. These tools were crucial in creating an immersive environment that challenged the installation’s emergency management and communication capabilities.
This complex exercise highlighted USAG Rheinland-Pfalz’s preparedness and reinforced its ability to synchronize efforts between various teams and leadership. ATS’s year-long involvement, including milestone planning and simulated media production, enhanced the installation’s operational readiness and ability to validate plans and procedures.
By providing professional planning and execution, ATS ensured that USAG Rheinland-Pfalz could meet its training objectives, making the exercise a resounding success.
As a leader in emergency preparedness training and readiness, ATS continues to actively work to deliver innovative, experience-based disaster-preparedness exercise solutions for local, state, and federal agencies to protect communities. Preparation for disasters helps reduce panic and possible loss of life. Utilizing simulation helps these units prepare for managing multiple units during a real-life event.
