 Realistic EOC Training
EDMSIM is an entity-based, real-time
constructive simulation. EDMSIM trains the
Emergency Operations Center (EOC) staff
by replacing the traditional "Table Top
model" and Master Scenario Events List
(MSEL) exercises with a computer simulation.
This provides more realistic inputs to the
EOC and allows the exercise to be more
dynamic and free-flowing than the traditional
methods. EDMSIM runs on multiple computers for training EOC staff and leaders:
- First Responders operate the simulation and report to EOC
- EOC makes decisions
- Decisions are tested within the simulation and feedback provided
Easy to Setup and Easy to Operate
The software was designed from the outset to be operated by first responders with basic computer skills. With less than two hours of simulation instruction, the first responders learn to operate the simulation stations. During the exercise they manipulate the simulated equipment and interact with the command and control system.
Training exercises can be easily created within EDMSIM using your own training staff. New maps can be added or scenarios adjusted to suit the training need. No special equipment or computers are required. EDMSIM operates over a standard network using standard laptops
Simple Scenario Creation.
Internal training resources can be used to maintain the simulation and create and conduct training. The Expert
User/Scenario Creation Course can be conducted in 2-3
Days. Unit personnel modify scenarios in less than an hour.
Unit personnel create new scenarios in 2-3 hours or 2-3
days for very complex high-level scenarios/new equipment
 Integrated GIS and Symbology
EDMSIM contains a full-featured GIS
component that allows you to locate
events on the map and to lay out the
exercise area on the ground. EDMSIM
can automatically display all common
commercial electronic maps. Maps can
also be modified with layers of graphics,
images, satellite photos, or even
operational graphics. The GIS
component of EDMSIM is powerful,
yet simple to use. EDMSIM can display
entity locations in 3D and can
integrate with online mapping engines such as Google Earth and Microsoft's Virtual Earth.
A unit organization can be created and symbols can be dragged and dropped on to the map with ease.
 Master Scenario Events List
The MSEL is integrated with EDMSIM
and includes a full featured, user
configurable report generation tool. Not
only are common reports already pre-
defined, but also you can reconfigure
these reports or create your own as
required. Some of the reports included
with the software include the message
timeline, message list, reports by type,
by date/time, previous four hours,
and next four hours. MELTOOL also
allows plotting of the timeline, which is useful for briefings and exercise planning sessions. Reports can include graphs, graphics or text.
